What is a Metropolitan Community Church?

We are a denomination of Christian Churches called the Universal Fellowship of Metropolitan Community Churches (UFMCC). The Fellowship believes in including all people, regardless of sexual orientation, gender, race or other previous denominational affiliation. While our primary outreach in the United States is to the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered community, our doors are open to all.

The first Metropolitan Community Church was founded by Rev. Troy Perry in Los Angeles in 1968. He believed that it was God's will that lesbian and gay people hear the Good News of God's inclusive love, especially since they had been generally rejected by the older, mainline churches.

UFMCC now has over 300 churches worldwide!

How do I become a member?

Membership classes are scheduled as needed through our pastor at MCCSAPastor@sbcglobal.net. You may join the church by transferring your membership from another church or by affirmation of faith.

Should I take communion?

MCC celebrates an open communion table.  This means you do not need to be a member of this church (or any other) to participate. You only need to know that you want to come and experience the Risen Christ in this sacrament. At communion you will be served or you may serve yourself. If you desire, your server will pray with you personally before you return to your seat. You may share communion with a spouse, family, friends, lover...in fact, we encourage you to do so! Many find communion to be a deeply personal time made even more special by sharing it with loved ones.
