What is Loves Day?

Loves Day was a project created by Jim Isaman, a long-time activist and member of the church in 1999.  Its mission was to promote the spiritual and personal development of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) couples by sponsoring programs and projects which affirmed their loving relationships.  Jim claimed February 14th as “Loves Day” to be an annual tradition for the LGBT community since it is their love that distinguishes them within society.

Why does MCCSA continue the Loves Day tradition?

Upon Jim Isaman’s passing in 2009, Santos Campos (Jim’s former partner and confidant) approached MCC San Antonio to request that the church continue this annual tradition.

The fundamental principles of Loves Day are also embodied in the core values of MCCSA - Diversity, Faith in Action, Healthy Relationships and Spiritual Growth.

Since the year 2000, the annual Loves Day dinner, dance and silent auction has been held one evening during the first two weeks of February. This year the proceeds are designated to go towards the church's building fund.
