What is "Loves Day"?

Loves Day San Antonio was a project created in 1999 by long-time activist Jim Isaman.

Its mission was to promote the spiritual and personal development of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) couples by sponsoring programs and projects which affirmed their loving relationships.

Jim claimed February 14 as “Loves Day” to be an annual holiday for the GLBT community since it is their love that distinguishes them within society.

Why was Metropolitan Community Church of San Antonio (MCCSA) selected to carry on Loves Day?

Upon Jim Isaman’s passing earlier this year, Santos Campos (Jim’s former partner and confidant) approached Metropolitan Community Church of San Antonio (MCCSA) to request the church continue carry on the traditions of Loves Day.

MCCSA was a natural selection because Jim Isaman was a member of this church and MCCSA was a beneficiary of the proceeds of the Loves Day D

The fundamental principles of Loves Day are also embodied in the core values of MCCSA - Diversity, Spiritual Growth, Healthy Relationships, and Faith in Action.
