Glorify the Lord with me; let us exalt his name together.

 ~ Psalm 34:3

What is a Small Group?

Every heart is moved by something: Some are broken, some weakened due to sickness, feeling forgotten or just in need of a closer relationship with God. Some hearts are thirsting for a stronger knowledge of the word. Some hearts are still searching.

Not only has your heart been uniquely formed by God with a specific passion, but He has empowered all of us to do something with that passion. Something big!

Small groups aren’t just another form of fellowship or a time to come together. Small groups are opportunities to explore that passion.

Check out the possibility to grow your relationship with God, minister to each other and discover your own God given destiny, the chance to show God to another believer who may need to see God through your eyes.

When do we meet?

The Small Groups meet Monday’s and Tuesday’s in our Social Hall from 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm.  Participants are asked to get there a little before 7:00p.m. and bring their Bible (just in case additional Bibles are needed). **Small Groups do not meet on holidays.

Please enter through the door at the end of the walk way (in between the parking lot and the church) closest to the church.

What do we do in one?

Each gathering has basically the same overall agenda, which may change with regard to people’s needs.  A typical agenda includes:

Fellowship - everyone arrives and “checks in” to see how everyone is doing and follow up from the                         last meeting.

Introduction - (usually only when new people join) dialogue which usually involves discussions                                 regarding background.

Prayer - as with every other ministry, we open the study with a prayer.

Bible Study - Scripture is selected by the facilitator (Monday nights group usually uses the same                             scripture read on Sundays) and questions regarding the scripture are answered                                 (participation is encouraged but not required).

Prayers and Praises - We share with the group and ask to be kept or to keep others in prayer or                         share testimonies of how God is working in our lives.

Closing Prayer - at this time either one person gives a prayer over the group or people are                                 given turns sharing prayers with the group.

Occasionally, Small Group night turns into “Activity Night” in which we might break from the normal night of studying and discussing scripture to watch a movie, clean the sanctuary or even visit the SAAF house.  We strongly feel that although we’re not centered around the bible, we’re building our friendships in the Lord.

Rules of Small Group Participants

Because groups can range in size between 2 to 12 rules are established to promote participation and openness.

1. Respect each other - Participants are asked to take turns when speaking and not to be                     judgmental of others in the group or their walk with God.

2. There are no wrong answers - Everyone has their own opinion as well as a different walk with         God.  Walks are all different—we should learn and share about our different relationships with         God.

3. Confidentiality - All the information shared is to stay within the group; this encourages                      participants to share freely without fear of being judged.

Sample Scripture & Questions

Acts 2:42-47

The Fellowship of the Believers

They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.  Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs preformed by the apostles.  All the believers were together and had everything in common.  They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need.  Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts.  They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people.  And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

Ice breaker question: What do you devote yourself to daily? Anything that would pass for a daily devotion?

Scripture Question: What did these 3,000 converts end up doing (vv.42-47)? How is God with them?
