What is the Social Media Ministry?

     The Social Media Ministry is the newest ministry at MCC San Antonio. Currently, it consists of the MCCSA website (which is still under construction, so make sure to check back soon!) and our Facebook page (click here to friend us!).  We’re still in need of people interested in developing our Twitter, YouTube and My Space accounts.  This behind the scenes ministry brings people to God, by planting seeds or watering seeds that have already been planted. With technology, we’re able to reach hundreds of people all over the world – INSTANTLY!

 

 

Why is this ministry important?

        In today’s world, it’s easy to lose sight of faith but with The Social Media Ministry, an array of technology and our own God given gifts, we can:

 

 

 

Why Should I get involved?

        With more people “going green”, people are less likely to subscribe to magazines or buy newspapers, along with the easy accessibility of the internet, there’s a greater demand to keep up with online information.

    According to Google, the word “Church” is searched more than “Religion”, “Jesus” OR “God”; an estimated 82% of Americans have home internet and the avg. person spends 14+ hours a week online.  On top of that, The average Twitter user has 126 followers, 80% of which follow via mobile phone; there are 300+ tweets per second, MCCSA averages a growth of 3 new friends per day - this does NOT include people who WE friend nor people who discontinue Facebook use. And finally, YouTube exceeds 2 Billion visitors per day - each spending an average of 15 min. a day on the site!

What can I do to get involved?

        Although social media may only be recognized as popular sites such as Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, LinkedIn, etc. – our Social Media Ministry is here to further the participation of people who are “tech-savvy”.  If “tech” is a hobby in your life; photography, graphic arts, web design or videography; YOU CAN HELP!  The Social Media Ministry Team is open to all levels of experience – if you’re interested but have no experience, we can help you build your skills to match your desire to help.

 

We are currently seeking people who have interest in:

 

 

 

When do we meet?

         The team will meet regularly to get on the same page, share information & ideas as well as brainstorm and help each other out. For the most part, (unless partnered) you will be responsible for your part of the ministry – leaving room for your own personal touch.  The Social Media Ministry Team works much like a puzzle – although each piece is beautiful in its own right, the magic happens when we all come together!
